Top 10 Must-Read Books: Summer 2015

With summertime around the corner, here at Maven Boutique LA we thought it would be fun to compile a top ten list of our favorite books of the season!  Whether you're soaking up sun at Manhattan Beach, cruising by Griffith Park for a picnic, or lounging at the Verve Coffee Roasters Downtown, this list combines the best of fashion, humor, and entertainment.

  1. Paper Towns by John Green. The Paper Towns movie is one of the most-anticipated for summer! Catch up on the story before it hits theatres.
  2. Leave Your Mark by Aliza Licht. Written by a PR girl, this book offers practical advice no matter what your career path may be.
  3. Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari. We loved Aziz on Parks and Recreation, so we already know we’re going to love his new book all about dating in the crazy, tech-crazed world.
  4. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling. Mindy’s life advice is always just as hilarious and practical as she is. Catch up on this book before her next one comes out in September.
  5. Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee. Did you love To Kill a Mockingbird? Over 50 years later, we finally have a sequel.
  6. Yes Please by Amy Poehler. This has been the year of celebrity memoirs, but Amy’s stands out for it’s honesty, good advice and being laugh-out-loud funny.
  7. P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han. If you’ve already worked your way through every Nicholas Sparks novel, try this one. It’s the perfect beach read!
  8. #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso. We love the girl power message behind this memoir/advice book by the Nasty Gal CEO.
  9. Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg. This classic career book is a must-read. If you haven’t read Sheryl’s advice yet, put it on your list now.
  10. Lauren Conrad Style by Lauren Conrad. There’s nothing better than classic California style and Lauren Conrad is the queen.

Awesome — I’ve bene needing some summer reading recommendations. I’m not sure how I feel about Mockingbird’s sequel…I loved the first and am happy to keep it in my mind untouched, but I’m kind of curious.

Great list! I am a big fan of Aziz Ansari and Amy Poehler… they are both very funny and talented. I will need to check out their books for sure! I am also a fan of fashion and think that Lauren Conrad has a great eye when it comes to all things fashion. This list has definitely sparked my interest. Thanks for sharing!

I’ve already read Paper Towns (I enjoyed it, but I’m not sure if I liked it enough to pay for the movie) and plan to read Go Set a Watchman next. I also just read Ta-Nehisi Coates’ book ‘Between the World and Me’ and would recommend it to anyone. Summer seems to be the only season I can find the time to actually read!

#GirlBoss is definitely on my list. I love anything that empowers young women. In a world where everything is trying to keep us down, we need this message!
