Taking a vacation is the best feeling ever! The only worries you deal with is figuring out where to eat! Packing for the vacation you’re about to go on is a different story. After years of practicing, I can finally say I have nailed down the art of packing but not over packing! Trust me when I say it can be a little embarrassing (especially if you’re traveling with a guy) when he shows up with a tiny duffle bag and you have a rolly suitcase. Follow these tips when packing and you won’t have to worry about a thing!
Whether you are going somewhere tropical or sightseeing in Europe, the best way to pack is to think of it like a math problem. For a week long trip, 1 pair of pants, 1 pair of shorts and a dress will last you the whole time. Change up the bottoms with different tops and think of them as outfits, not just throwing random items in your bag. For example, our Backbay Knitted Top looks great paired with jeans for a casual daytime look, but you could also pair it with our Heavenly Mini Skirt for dinner and a night out! Also, try to stick with a particular color scheme, that way it is easier to mix and match.
As far as bathing suits and accessories go, remember wearing the same thing over again is okay. I use to think I needed a new suit everyday I was on vacation- I know, serious problems. I learned that is actually awful, because of all the different tan lines! I now pack 2-3 suits, depending on how long I am gone for, and make sure they all have a similar style. That way I don’t end up with a halter, bandeau, and racer back tan lines!
With accessories, I never bring any of my nice belongings. I can be pretty forgetful, so leaving one of my precious rings in a hotel room would not be good. Instead, I bring one pair of drop earrings, like our Pretty Lady Statement Earrings, that instantly jazz up any outfit! Also, I’m addicted to our temporary tattoos. They last a few days, even in water, and you can style them any way you want. They’re perfect for a few days on the beach.
Last but not least, ALWAYS bring some sort of wrinkle release! My mother told me this trick years ago, and it wasn’t until recently I figured out why. Right when you arrive at your hotel, I recommend hanging your clothes up and spritzing them with the wrinkle release. Especially if you are re-wearing outfits, this helps keep a nice shine to your clothes and makes you look polished. Mothers really do know best!
We would love to hear if you guys have any tips or tricks when it comes to packing!
