Running your own business can be stressful. Scratch that, LIFE can be stressful. Marketing your business, creating a business plan, maintaining a personal life, the list goes on and on. It can be pretty draining but it’s important to remain positive and love what you are doing. Keep yourself from pulling out your hair with our Stress Relief Guide!

Mediate

Even if it is just for 5 minutes, take time to close your laptop and shut off your phone and sit in silence.  Personally, I enjoy taking personal time right when I wake up. I sit in bed and focus on my breathing. Really get in sync with my breath and everything else seems to melt away. When I’m ready, I start to think about goals I want to achieve.  I like to give myself a realistic goal, long term goal and a personal goal. Something that at the end of the day I can sit down and acknowledge an accomplishment! Another great meditation tool is the app, Headspace.  This free app is like a personal trainer but for your mind. Definitely worth checking out!

Lavender

I use lavender like it’s my day job! I always store a mini bottle of hand lotion in my purse of the calming scent, but I don’t stop there.  Once a week, I fill up my tiny tub and pour lavender bath salts in the water. My favorite is World Market’s affordable Lavendar Rosemary salt. I feel myself truly relax the second I get in the warm water!  I also spray my pillows with a mist of Lavender spray, which I swear helps me sleep. Check out this awesome DIY we found for creating the calming spray.

Exercise

After a long day, exercise is usually the last thing you want to do. Personally, when I’ve had a hard day, I want to go home and turn on Friends with a box of chocolate. It wasn’t until recently that I started packing a gym bag and going straight to work out after work. I found out it was a great way to decompose myself and let all my thoughts disappear. Whether I’m walking on the treadmill or taking a class, you become focused on the work out and not your work. Plus, working out creates endorphins in your body, which as Elle Woods said, “makes you happy”. I realized even if I spend 30 minutes in the gym I feel more energized and ready to conquer any last minute projects. It’s even better when you grab a friend and work out together!
